✅Checklist: Apt Resource Selection Tool for Teachers 

Purpose: To help teachers evaluate and choose the right resources (physical/digital) for effective lesson delivery. 

1. Relevance to Learning Outcome 

• Does the resource align with the specific learning outcome of the lesson? • Is it directly connected to the concept, skill, or value being taught? 

• Does it help students achieve understanding, mastery, or application? 

• Example: Using a plant life cycle chart for the outcome ‘Students will describe the stages of plant growth.’ 

2. Age-Appropriateness 

• Is the language, complexity, and visuals suitable for the student’s age? 

• Is it engaging without being distracting or overwhelming?

• Does it respect cognitive readiness for abstract concepts? 

• Example: Flashcards for Grade 1, animation for Grade 4, simulations for Grade 8. 

3. Resource Type Compatibility 

• Does the type of resource match the topic and activity? 

• Is the digital content (video, app, simulation) interactive or passive? 

• Can the physical and digital resources complement each other? 

4. Teacher-Friendliness 

• Is it easy to set up, explain, and use during the lesson? 

• Do you need training/support to use this resource? 

• Can it be reused or adapted for other topics or levels? 

5. Accessibility and Infrastructure 

• Is the resource available offline or online based on classroom conditions? • Are the required tools (projector, mobile device, internet, etc.) available? • Can students with disabilities or special needs access and use it? 

6. Student Engagement Potential 

• Does it promote active learning (observe, question, do, respond)?

• Can it spark curiosity, creativity, or collaboration? 

• Will students find it visually or physically stimulating? 

• Example: A short quiz on Kahoot encourages participation and healthy competition. 

7. Cost-Effectiveness 

• Is it low-cost, no-cost, or shareable? 

• Can it be created using locally available materials? 

• Is the free version of the ICT tool sufficient? 

8. Cultural and Ethical Sensitivity 

• Is the content free of stereotypes, bias, or inappropriate themes? 

• Is it aligned with local values and diversity? 

• Is it respectful of all genders, religions, and regions?

9. Integration into Lesson Plan 

• Is there a clear point of integration — introduction, explanation, activity, assessment? • Can you map the resource to the pedagogy (group work, demonstration, digital task)? • Does it support assessment for learning (AFL)? 

10. Reflection After Use 

• Did the resource achieve the intended learning outcome? 

• Were the students more engaged and participative? 

• What changes would you make next time?
